We went to the project files subpage of our website – we discussed how to use the zip files for projects, as well as the demo mp3s posted.
Students were introduced to their first project – AABA Rock
A discussion on ternary form in both rock music and classical music was discussed.
- First A is the first musical idea – a verse
- Second A is a repeat of the musical idea – a second verse – different words but the same melody.
- The B section is a new musical idea – a chorus or bridge.
- The last A is a return to the original musical idea – another verse.
In classical music –
- The first A is called the exposition
- The second A is a repeat (slight variation possible) of the exposition
- The B section is called the development.
- The last A section is called the recapitulation.
