In today’s class –
Homework # 2 check – was due on Tuesday – checked today.
We discussed the Track, Marker, and Effects buttons found over Track 1. We learned that the Track button can also be utilized to add new tracks – an alternative to using the Track Menu; the marker button can be used to add new markers – an alternative to clicking on the timeline to create a marker; we learned how to use preset effects that apply to the entire song by using the effects button. We reviewed the Time and Beats options for the timeline as well.
Track Controls
We learned how to rename an individual track and change the icon used with the track name; we talked about panoramic sound (or pan) and how to use it to show physical presence in sound; we learned how to adjust the volume of an individual track by using the channel fader found on the channel; we learned how to mute and solo different tracks; we briefly discussed the automation toggle switch and how we can automate track volume, track pan, and track effects; we learned how to use preset effects on an individual channel; we learned about the arm button and how we use it to record audio; finally, we learned about the recording selector switch and how it relates to our audio interface.
Students were sent to stations to practice using these two sets of controls and apply what they’ve learned to their first two projects.
